We left an 80 degree LA on January 25th and made the final drive to Cape Fair Mo arriving on the 30th. Two days later the big chill...frozen pipes and snowed in during the worst winter in 50 years locally. Ahhhh no problemo. Bye Bye LA.

I CAN RELATE. I LIVE IN ATLANTA, GA AND THOUGH WE EXPERIENCED A PRETTY GOOD 'HIT' FROM THE RECENT STORMS, IT WAS NOTHING LIKE IT WAS UP NORTH. I WAS BORN IN BROOKLYN, NEW YORK AND RAISED UP THERE, SO, I DO APPRECIATE THE WARMTH OF THE SOUTH. Location, location, location. Yes, it's all about personal preferences. Then it all depends if you would rather be kayaking and water skiing or fighting the downhill slopes. Many folks I know rather not tumble in the snow. So enjoy it if that's your thing. That's why not all folks live down south. We thank God for that!

I have a friend in Port St. Lucie and she sends me horror stories of the weather they have been having. I think of her messages and smile as I ski down the slopes.

Yes, indeed it is lovely at this time of year where you live! But, to be fair... just how hot does it get around your paradise in the summer? I remember growing up in West Palm Beach, Fl. and the summers there are brutally hot, with rain that turns to steam. We are having a cold winter here and are wishing we could visit for awhile in your area. Enjoy it! Joy

Well here in the bayous of Louisiana winter doesn't know if it's coming or going OR if it wants to be a northern wannabe. Granted it is not as brutal as other locales but tossing a bunch of Cajuns in sleet and snow is not the best idea... and oh we will need the shorts this weekend...lol
