Eternal Holiday...

Myra Wexler Darwish inspired me to write this poem as she wrote about her wonderful experiences on Sanibel Island. Everyday is a holiday here! No, it's not heaven but it's very beautiful living here on earth.

We live straight across from Sanibel Island

It’s great to ride a bike or swim and kayak there.

But there are many nice places here like Bonita Beach, Marco Island and Naples too

Then there is Venice, Sarasota and Tampa Bay just to name a few

Not to mention thousands of islands scattered here to and fro

Yes, there are beautiful beaches in this part of the world, wherever we go

We lived  in many places around the world from Japan to England and everywhere inbetween

SW Florida is not Heaven on Earth but it's been like being on an eternal holiday of our dreams....

The earth is def a far cry from heaven but when you find that place of happiness and peace here on earth orather your promised land, it's so similar to this eternal holiday. I missed reading your writes John. Thanks for sharing this!

Glad to hear that you found your earthly paradise. My brother likes it down there as well, but I prefer the cooler climes of the great northwood.

I guess that's why so many flock there. My twin brother and his wife (deceased) spent the last three winters as "snowbirds" on Key Largo. I wonder they could feel Bogey and Bacall (deceased) in the air. My cousin lived in Naples and built a business and homestead in Sebring. Strangely, he died in a car crash in late December near his hunting lodge in North Dakota.
