Loved my old dog !!!

A Man’s Best Friend Jessie She broke my heart today I had to put her down I watched her pass away Old and black and brown. How I loved that old dog Always there to greet me Part of life’s essential cog I had to set her free. She wasn’t happy anymore Just laid around the floor Couldn’t meet me at the door At night I’d hear her snore. The sparkle gone from her eye Oh just so stiff and sore Lord it made me cry When I had to say good bye. I will never understand Why we love and lose Why with life so grand It’s death we have to chose. To end the pain and suffering After living here on earth Life should have more meaning Why are we given birth. Just to love and die Makes no sense to me This old man had to cry As he hugged his dog good bye. That night late at night I heard her little whine I thought that can’t be right Go back to sleep, you’ll be fine. Again I heard the whine Like a thousand times before Whenever she would pine Scratching at the door. I laid in bed awake Didn’t hear it anymore She came by for my sake Said good bye at the door. One of the hardest things to do, but sometimes the kindest, is what you did for your precious Jessie. I've had to say goodbye that way, and oh, it hurt me so bad! But not them, they are freed from their pain, and I know Jessie felt nothing but gratitude that you had the courage to do the right thing for her.

A loss of a loved being is a hard pain to bear.

So very sorry for your loss. I lost one of my cherished rescued dogs about a month ago, and I sometimes still hear our dear old Trucker in my home. May your beloved Jess live on forever in your heart and soul.
