I really love the rain... that light steady drizzle that can tempt a muse or nudge a nap. BUT we have seen just entirely too much of it of late and would love to send some to our drought-plagued friends..))
I Use To Like Drizzle
I use to like drizzle,
That tinny-sounding splash
On rooftops and wet splats
Pattering on panes streaked
With tiny rivers and I once enjoyed
Cool mist upon my face, skipping through
At least one pirouette...and not really
Running to avoid random drops
Of freshness...I loved pretending
Lightning was beautiful and thunder,
Drumbeats from heaven, if it would
But bring me a rainbow, vibrant
And full of wishes but what was once
Refreshing change is now
A constant...an everyday litany
Of wet grass and sad trees...even puddles
Seem weary, growing in girth...
I miss the sun and wonder if it
Will remember me but sometimes
I fear its promised return
Is simply a rumor and practicing
Introductions will prove a waste
Of time... looking beyond
Drop-splattered glass I swear
I hear the window sigh...
It use to like drizzle too.

Constant precipitation can get tedious after a while, but just remember the sun is still up there and will send its beams down to you soon. I like the feel of this poem Myrna. You always find the perfect words to fit the subject and convey the mood.

Myrna, a marvelous choice of words make this a gem! I love the rain, and am in one of the states that appreciate your offer, if only you could make it happen;-)
You capture it beautifully in poignant verse; well done! You and I (kind of) on the same page today: Texas actually having a winter this year, cold, some snow falling out there, we're not used to this! But: come summer, we'll be wishing for the cold......LOL
(((HUGS))) and love (and may the sun shine soon), Karla.
You and I know how dreary WINTER can be in the Southland.
Your poem tells the wet and soggy story very well, and proves
again, that you can write one about anything!

Myself I like a full out down pour with thunder crashing and lighting flashing but your write does introduce to me the possiblities of liking drizzle as well.
