Of Being Alone

in the silence that comes with
being alone, a woman sits
with her thoughts, scrapbook

moments drifting, page after
page filled with another life,
another dream, turn within

yesterday's breath and still
shadowed with mourning, she
contemplates the loss

of herself and  her fairytale,
her zephyr, her sailing wind, and
the sweet autumn of passing

seasons... and though time
promises new memories to make,
and a new tomorrow that beckons

upon the whisper of changing
winds and untethered wings, she fears
most never finding the woman

she once was and hopes she has
simply misplaced her between
the breaths of her yesterdays

and the silence of being alone

How well I can relate to these words, Myrna:

she fears
most never finding the woman
she once was and hopes she has
simply misplaced her between
the breaths of her yesterdays
and the silence of being alone

An exquisite poem, my friend.

Love and hugs,

Katie

I'm glad this reflects places she has been, not where she is today. She was never misplaced; she was there all the time, and still is. I like reading her poetry. This is a beautifully written study in living through the grieving process.

An interesting write, stiring all the emotions in one's soul. I found it is easier to pack those scrapbooks away and go forward with living......

Be safe,

Stirring and haunting like an old love song that you can't remember all the words to...it lingers in the back of the mind a part of yesterday.

Myrna - Your excellently written poem is another reminder of lives that have been halved by death. No, you aren't this woman, but at times, you believe that you are. When you are bold enough to step away and look at the situation, you may find the price too high and discouraging. Keep in mind the true meaning of these words: Life... Pleasure... Together... Laughter... Sharing... and when it applies... Innoocent Intimacy.
Dear friend, it's not easy being alone... so, stay open for unexpected and breezy change... okay?
Your older, widowed, and Solid Friend -

Myrna,

Thank God this is not you. Been there, though, can see it in your words. We've all been. Well done.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
