Thr whole self agrandizement is way out there today Buy so snd so ,your worth it, Take care of number one, to thine self be true . There are statisctically 10 out of every 100 people that call themselves Christian, that have any kind of relationship with God, and less that 8% that have had a real experience with him(rebirth)These stats were researched 3 years ago, I'd bet it's worse, not better. Not what we think we am!

Oh, how smug we seem to be

Nothing's going to bother me

I have His grace I'm saved we say

and yet ourselves aren't gone away

We cling to things we ought not do

We say we're His but we're not true

He called us apart but we  heed not

Our lives are filled with things we've bought

We treasure these and seek him not

We go to church so clean so bright

We sing we praise with all our might

But does he hear our boisterous noise

when after church we seek our toys?

Who's got what and what's got who?

how many  how much  how little  how few

We whine, we scheme, we plan, we tread

Upon the devil's path we're led

Our hearts are not really with Him

Our songs only a sham

Just noise and cheer, an occasional tear

we're not what we think we am

Because the truth be told

A  light on our darkness shine

We only want what's ours

We only want what's  mine

ROCK,

This has a superb rhyme and rhythm, and perfectly depicts the material goods that can separate us from The CHRIST. People use things - even people - to replace their need for HIS LOVE, which cannot be measured or depleted - or replaced.

Excellent, my Brother.
Love you MORE! Sis

So true we often do not sell out to Christ Jesus to the Gospel furtherance. We embrace all to often those things that keep us in the carnal and wordly scene...... This is powerful ROCK....

This reminds me of my adopted parents and the way they have been carrying on in the church for years. When my book came out this year is when God removed th covr and thew bible is coming to pass in my life right now. The wicked is paying and they shall not prosper for God has seen every tear-moan and groan from me for years. This poem is so true.

Art this is very true, and has been for a long time. Our watered down version of Christianity is a mockery. However, it isn't things, or even what we call sin, that is the cause. It is mostly our inability to deal in simple truths in our relationships. We live sham lives under our protected facades.Having been hurt a time or two,we draw our heads in like turtles, for fear of being hurt again. We are weaklings, cowards who are afraid to love, therefore we can't accept others love, not even a saviors. We don't know how...
Splendid poem...

Eileen
