The attributes of childhood, tend to preserve us in adulthood

Poem Artwork

BUFFOONERY

When she was a curly-headed child
And you were ten-foot-two
She reached out a chubby hand
And tried to attach to you
.
You!  In all your vibrant colors
And she, with her sweet pink heart
Together, you made quite a splash!
A puerile work of art
.
And every day, when you returned
She would climb-up for a hug,
As one spiral curl, on that little girl
Fell forward...when she shrugged!
Then you would fill the summer air
With the warm tones of your bliss,
And she'd reply, in a very shy
But resounding kind of kiss!
Next, she yanked your tie and "beeped" your nose
Stepped on your shoes and snapped your hose!
Rolled your suspenders and flattened your hat,
Took off in your car - and that was that!
Defeated, your once-big smile
Slipped into a bigger frown

For your little girl and her spiral curl,
Had just "outclowned" the Clown!

*Wife, mother, seven-time grandmother, and Scribe unto The LORD [Matthew 13:52], I've raised my family in the nurture and admonition of The LORD.  A favorite verse is Proverbs 17:22:  "A merry heart doeth good, like a medicine, but a broken spirit dries the bones."  i.e. A good dose of humor does a body good!
Our family has navigated assorted battles of life, but always, in God's timing, we've been delivered from those dark times, and our laughter quickly turns to joy!  Joy brings healing; not the coarse humor of the world, but the good, clean humor that refreshes its hearer!

I wrote this as a dedication to my [baby] brother, Steve, to celebrate the arrival of his first grandchild - a girl!  He was such a good brother to me,  so that even though he was "the baby", I always looked UP to him [at 6'5", I had no choice!]
Seriously, he WAS ten-foot-two in my eyes, and still is.
On the other hand, he is already twenty-foot-four in little Rachel Elizabeth's eyes ~ and still growing.

By the by, I am now a nine-time grandmother
