Rumbling and Rain

WOW! We had another of those storms last night. It did not get that violent where we are but I did hear a fire alarm going off in a community less that a mile from where I live. I wondered if lightning had created havoc for some poor family. That is what inspired this write.

Poem Artwork

The rumble of the thunder spreads across the sky turned gray.

Lightning flashes and thunder clashes putting on a wild display.

Before long the sound of rain is heard pounding upon my window sill.

And as the rains come pouring down the lightning and thunder plays where they will.

The wind has picked up from the southwest and furiously guides the rain.

There is no sun shining now for it seems it has left in its disdain.

Down comes the rain and the light reflects as lightning streaks across from cloud to cloud.

Raindrops dance in puddles in the streets as the thunder roars out loud.

The trees are dancing in the wind and do not seem to mind the rain

For truly it brings a source of life and causes them no pain.

They may give the impression that they are dodging the lightning in fear.

However, today the flashes are in the clouds giving the impression they are not near.

One clap of thunder comes almost immediately after the lightning’s flash.

This is how we know that this hit near as the air masses continue to clash.

I hear a fire alarm going off and so soon after the flash of which I write.

It may have hit a house or barn or anything in site.

The forces of the universe are hard for us to discern.

They can bring life or death and that is our greatest concern.

i've written a lightning scene in my ebook and so i was interested to see how someone else described lightning - i like the rhythm - it kind of pounds along - quite heavily

We are due for some stormy times here, too, hope the severe stuff stays far away from us; we are tired of the severe! Good write, though; just keep us Texas folks in your prayers!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :)

Love the pic!
