Gray skies persist

I feel lucky to be able to say that we got a really welcome rain in my home state. Just a little west of us they would have like to stop that rain but it kept on coming. My prayers go out to them.

Poem Artwork

It’s been eight days since I last saw the sun.

The skies are gray when I awaken and black when day is done.

The rain has come and my newly planted Dogwood stands, searching for the sun’s rays.

It had enjoyed the refreshing drink of water which has lasted many days.

Now what it is searching for is the heat and clear skies overhead.

What it has found has been another day of gray skies instead.

“Will the sun soon come back to warm my leaves?” it seems to say.

“Or will this simply be another gray, cloudy day.”

When the rains come they can be a blessed and refreshing drink

Or they can be a source of destruction; mud holes into which houses and trees will sink.

What of the sun for which the Dogwood now searches to welcome.

Will it bring more life for the plants or will it become another source of doom.

The skies are gray but they will soon shine blue and bright.

Soon we will again see the moon and stars in the night.

Nature is a delicate and yet powerful force on the land

When nature is angry it becomes hard for trees and flowers to stand.

We praise the rain when it ends a long summer drought.

We praise the sun’s presence when it finally comes out.

What I am saying to you and to the trees.

The same power brings destruction that brings a warm summer breeze.

Such are the ways of nature, Lew. I do hope that more "temperate" climes return. Love and peace to you,

Regis
