The Bud of the Maple Tree
Consider the bud of the Maple Tree.
When it awakes in the spring it is too small to see.
One day you notice it as it turns yellow, almost gold.
It continues to blossom though the nights are still cold
But one day will it take on the color of green
And each morning as you look on it a new shape is seen.
Before long it is a bud no more but a beautiful leaf reaching for the sky.
The leaf waves at the birds in the clouds as they fly by.
The leaf draws energy from the warm summer sun,
Until the nights again turn cool signaling that autumn has begun.
It is then that the leaf once again turns yellow, gold or even brown.
Soon the cool autumn breeze will send it from the tree and it will come swirling down.
Then the wind will blow it too and fro away from the trees.
The leaf will become a captive of the cool autumn breeze.
Such is the life of what was once born of the maple tree.
A beautiful sight, take time to watch it grow and you will see.
