Had my eyes checked. My ophthalmologist
was hot. She dilated my pupils to make me
more attractive? My apologies to the songwriter.

Dilation

It was dilation, I know,
but it could have ended,
right from the start.

It made her so hot, I know,
but the pot wasn't blended,
true to her heart.

A strange attraction, I know,
like something I’d seen,
at the local Wallmart.

False infatuation, I know,
with all belief suspended,
that tore us apart.

A fine flatulation, I know,
entirely unintended,
that blew us a fart.

It was flagellation, I know,
with a backside bended,
that upset the apple cart.

It was rejection, I know,
with no love intended,
from that cute little tart.

Boo-hoo...

Do you think she might take that to hear, that little f--t? Ron, this romance simply blew over and away before it had a chance to mature. Could it have been the manure? May love and peace be always with you my dear friend. Jon Michael

Don't know why, but it brings to mind the old Alice Cooper song "I'll Never Cry": "If there's a tear (in my eye) on my face, it makes me shiver to the bone, shakes me babe... my heart's a virgin it's never been tried... and you know, I'll never cry, I'll never cry."

You delve deeply into the woods we're not out of with a catchy variation on the "You're-not-telling-me-anything-I-don't-already-know" motif... hilarious at points, tragi-comic at others, and entirely 'real' and relevant throughout... replete with delicious ironic closing line... nice work, Ronald.

Loved 'Dialation.' Such irony in this well-written poem brought a smile to my face.

You had fun with this one. Ironically, it contains many elements of a seriously tragic relationship memory. Well done.

Hi Ron,
I am slightly disappointed in you, I thought you would have written a poem and swept her off her feet in your usual manner...

Though, it’s possible when she shone that light to the back of your eyes she saw strange things emerge.

I wonder if she keeps a diary.

Best regards,

Mor.

That usually does ruin the moment!!

Good Grief, Ronald, this poem really gave me a laugh.
I've always liked rhyming poetry but this is a real classic.
Congrats on this one.
I'll check out a few more because I like rhyming lines.

Ron, Perhaps you should have told her how hot she was.

When I was a boy a wise old farmer once told me
"love is just a gust of wind coming from the heart...
unless it takes the lower course, then it's just a farrrrt!"
Maybe you met him.

A flurry of poetical flirtation with more things in mind than rejection. I agree, she was a little tart. Yes . . .
