You have raised a few talking points here. The more we know, the more information, The better the solutions. Enjoyed the satire! Bring on the facts. Get them all out there. Plenty of poem topics for sure.

Last time I looked in the dictionary this is what it said Ron.
I don't see it anymore with our leaders in America or those who want this country protected.
My Father and sons have served this country and still do to this day. If the people that disagree with it don't like it they need to move to the country they want to support and live there and see what freedom means. We need to protect this blessed gift that those who have gone before us did to secure the land of the free.
We need to stand up for Americas rights so that the next generation of people understand what it took to get here!

Another wonderfully descriptive write from your (in)famous hand...I enjoy each weekend whatever you post & try to give a comment or review that is worthy of what you've written.

Ron, I try not to get into any arguments, if you will, regards politics or the fate of our nation...I am one of those that believe that our nation will persist no matter what danger seems to affect it from outside or inside sources, as after over 200 years of this nation being a nation, we have learned, I think, how to make this OUR nation what it is today...Still free & at least on our home shores, at PEACE...with that thought I bid you adieu...-e-

I am struck by the similarities in what I have read here to our own situation here in the UK...
I think back to the 50's when I was a young child, and luckily had the security of a Dad who worked and a mother who stayed at home to look after us...now to be 'acceptable' and have the materialistic goods that are standard...two incomes are necessary...kids are brought up by anyone other than their parents...not condemning...just reflecting...it's a hugely different style of 'global' living now...attitudes are so different today...in many ways...our own EU situation about whether we stay in or leave this year has sadly become to many people ... mainly about immigration...
Yes, the old days are gone...but we need to find our way 'back to the garden'....

A wonderful romp through the mysteries of the satirical journey. You left out "fureners" like me who live as expatriots in foreign climes doing "all the work" in these places. I know what it feels like.

The treasure lost due to these changing times is family. Quality time spent raising and loving our children, playing with them, reading to them and teaching them have been reduced by the need to survive. Some people used to "keep up with the Jones'" but now find themselves trying to stay above water. The middle class (almost non-existent)pays for said "give away" programs that they themselves are not entitled to because they make too much money. I'm all for paying my fair share, but not for people who refuse to work, enter this country illegally and want everything for nothing. Anyone else can step up to America's front door and are welcome. Getting back to "family" should be one our most important goals. Family is what made this country great. Nationalities, race, gender should not matter. It is what is in a person's heart and mind that makes the difference.
Then, of course, there are the politicians...

There's no such thing as "the good old days." Only those with tunnel vision and selective amnesia might think so.

What a refreshing read! I thought I was the only one who viewed things this way. The Irish, Italians, eastern Europeans, Japanese, Chinese, "Mexicans" (who may or may not actually be from Mexico), Middle Easterners, even the American Indian...it seems that with every generation there are more "undesirables" to play the part of scapegoat. And you know what? The fact is that the problem often rests with the "desirables" after all!

Change is great, but not for its own sake. The kind of changes facing us now, as your ask us to consider, is no more a threat than any number of other "bad apple" situations we could name that has been repeating itself for a couple of hundred years. Yeah, we need to get over ourselves, and especially stop thinking we're being "invaded." Ugh. Such tunnel vision.

Things may be changing, but we are being invaded, what is happening is nothing like what immigration is supposed to be.

Ah... yes Ron... it's a whole new world. Welcome to Americer.
It is all up hill from here on down.
