The news and the media play an important part of fear into the older folks minds. I would not want my older relatives to watch the news. I suggest for to set up links for them to watch the old classic movies which they once liked to watch and still enjoy watching.

We need them to feel safe.

ahahahahaha i loved this. i'm clapping over your piece. i give it a 5 star rating. i haven't watched the news for months. it eliminated a depressing addition to my every day life. it's not just worthy enough to be part of my day.

The only thing we have to fear
is fear itself
And that could be
some pretty scary stuff.

Day by day things go from bad to worse
with now a threat of a nuclear bomb.

But not to worry
the guy in Russia says
it'll only be a little one..

the news is as tedious as your poem is hilarious, just what today needed. Oh how I hate the news. A steady diet of Trump, interrupted by the worst storm in history, a category 3 storm that we are told not to pay attention to the category but the storm surge. Now we are back to the war in (where?). And it will ever go on.

Don't get me wrong. I don't advocate turning off the news. I watch the news on TV morning noon and night to get the latest about what is going on in the world that is important. I say important because they only have time to report what is the most important for the country. Local news provides me with what's happening locally.

Realizing that bad news is reported more often than good news, I'm okay with hearing about just bad news. Having lived in five different places in the country with all kinds of myth about those places, the reality is they are filled with good people living ordinary lives and not all worried about what's happening to the world because of the news.

I am concerned about those who turn to social media, obscure websites, highly political news channels, spin doctors, wing nuts, cults and corporate sponsored scientists for their information. Like Franklin Roosevelt declared in another time of much greater peril, "They only thing we have to fear, is fear itself."

I think mental attitude that is of peace is the only way to have peace in these crazy times..

I stopped watching the news some time ago, accept the odd time I catch accidental glimpses of on Social Media, the car radio or just passing gossip. I honestly feel I am better off. Good write my friend,
