WELL NOW, SEE...THAT DEPENDS ON HOW ONE LOOKS AT THE GIFT OF BEING A POET. THERE IS AN...AUDIENCE OF ONE...WHO IS ALWAYS THERE AND APPRECIATES EVERYTHING HE INSPIRES ONE TO WRITE, AND HE IS ALSO A PROMOTER. TAKING CARE OF WHO SEES IT AND WHEN, SO THAT NOT ONE POEM IS EVER FORGOTTEN BUT COMES FORTH AT THE TIME IT WAS SUPPOSED TO, AND AFFECTS EXACTLY WHO AND HOW IT WAS INTENDED. HOWEVER, FOR THOSE WHO ARE INCLINED TO NOT ACKNOWLEDGE 'THAT' AUDIENCE, I SAY....NEVER!!!! IF NOT NOW...THAN LATER, BUT NO POEM IS EVER 'FORGOTTEN'. THAT IS TO SAY...WORTHLESS, NEVER TO BE VALUED OR TOO LATE. SOMEONE... SOMEWHERE... AT SOME MOMENT WILL APPRECIATE AND BE INSPIRED BY IT AT JUST THE RIGHT TIME. WHETHER OR NOT THE POET KNOWS ABOUT IT IS UNIMPORTANT. NOW, DON'T MISUNDERSTAND ME, FOR IT IS GOOD AND WELL WHEN A POET IS GIVEN THEIR 'FLOWERS' WHILE THEY CAN STILL SMELL THEM. BUT LOGICALLY, THIS IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN IN EVERY CASE, SO THEN WHAT'S IMPORTANT IS...THAT THE POET DID WHAT THEY WERE CALLED TO DO, WHEN THEY WERE CALLED TO DO. I don't know. Perhaps the best poem ever written is truly in the eyes of the reader... many of which we never meet, never hear about, etc. So is it really important? I think now, as your satirical romp suggests. The greatest poem every written may have been written already. Only the poet knows.

BTW, great Netflix documentary: "This is a Robbery: The World Biggest Art Heist. If you've Netflix, worth your time. Watched the first episode this morning at 3:am. Yeah, I'm retiring early, preparing for my 12 hour days to hopefully get my legal bills paid off in 3 years.

Your best stanza, and no doubt most memorable one, is the last one. Probably the greatest poem ever to be written would be one that no one could really understand.

By the way, you have sometimes commented on my feeble rhymes that I couldn't get away with (and oftentimes I agreed with you); but "How do you do: to rhyme with "shoe" has got to take the prize! ! !

Last week I think it was that I awoke with something that I had dreamt that keft me with the thought of writing a poem of love. Then, bbecause I do not drive and will usually go along with Bonnie when she goes shopping, I will usually go just to get out. And I still had that mellow sensation in my stomach telling me to write that poem when we got home. I even told bonnie of my need to write a poem. So in a while we got home and, oh, an hour or two later she asked If I write my poem? I said "no'. She asked why not? I told her I forgot.

Looks like, Monseigneur, you'e made the GRADE at last ! What took you sooooooooOOOO loooooooooOOOOOOOOONNNNnnnnnGGGGGGGGggggg !!!!! Welcome. Best. TW

Poetry, like all forms of beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. Therefore, what constitutes the best poem ever written? For me, it may be The Road Less Travelled. For someone else. it may be Dr. Seuss. If you think of it that way, the best poem ever written will never be forgotten.
