My day late contribution to Valentine’s Day. Were some dinosaurs like swans? Mating for life and showing signs of affection?

Dinosaur Love

If we think of birds as lovey-dovey,

getting together in a friendly covey,

what about dinosaurs, did they love?

Won't get the answer from up above.

Feathers discovered on dinosaur remains,

making them more birdlike it seems,

roaming what is now the Great Plains.

Did they sit on their feathered nests,

sharing the warm hatching task,

we think only mothers know best?

Did they sing love songs and lullabies,

to each other and to their chicks?

From their skulls they could vocalize.

Did they guard their babies from harm,

from other of their kind so jealous,

to want to destroy their family's charm?

That was 65 million years ago or more.

Perhaps, we'll never know for sure.

But discovery surprises us all the time,

may find dinosaurs knew how to rhyme.

A quirky insight. Harmonizing/rhyming dinosaurs might be a good springboard for a children's cartoon. r

A touch of levity to relieve the hour. Who ever thought dinosaurs could be so sweet.

Such an imagination there. I never fathomed that thought.. I see other animals have empathy towards another,.... so anything's possible...Hope your Valentines day was beautiful. And thanks for your thoughtful reviews'

Hmmm...interesting question for which I might have an interesting answer. If modern birds are descendents of the dinosaurs then it stands to reason they bonded for life as many birds today do. Maybe it wasn't a giant rock that killed them all. Maybe they all just died from broken hearts.

And whose to say they didn't know how to rhyme anyway? Maybe they even sang their poetry as dino-country. You know, "She left me for that triceratops with the bigger frill..."

Just some random thoughts in tune with yours.

Rebecca
