LITTLE SOLDIER BOY

Little soldier boys grow up...

Poem Artwork

Sprawled amidst the battle on the floor,
You deftly move your plastic fighting men.
The good guys have the bad guys on the run--
They're fighting hard to take the hill again!
Never mind that some have suffered wounds,
Shot down by weapons of relentless foes.
Medics will attend the wounded, save their lives;
Right will prevail, my little soldier knows.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

(10 years later)

Huddled in a foxhole keeping watch,
Every nerve on edge, each sense on guard,
You whisper prayers for wisdom from our God.
You never dreamed that it would be so hard!
My prayers are mingled with your own, Son;
I know the Lord has always been your Guide.
With trembling voice, I ask Him to protect you
and bring my soldier boy home-safe to my side.

"I love you, O LORD, my strength.

The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold."  (Psalm 18:1 & 2)

Dear Connie, I am with you in this respect. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies; Thou anointest my head with oil; My cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
Love to you and GOD save our soldiers and bring them back safe.

Emile

This is a joyous and sad piece at the same time. I could sense the mixed emotions in the hope that your little soldier boy will return to you safe an in one piece. I will pray he does too, Connie. Thank you for sharing.

May the Lord Bless you, and those whom you love, and be with you always, and walk by your side. With love in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth, & ((((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), your den sister Barbie

You words paint a vivid picture of how our sons go from playing with toy soldier to being one themselves.

Without those willing and able to serve we would not be celebrating our freedom today. I join you, Connie, in saying an extra prayer for their safe return.

Donna
