SAD AND HAPPY FEELINGS FLOOD ME...THE THOUGHT THAT MANY LIVES ARE LOST IN THE DEFENSE OF THIS COUNTRY IS SO VERY SAD...WAR ALWAYS IS...
BUT...I AM HAPPY FOR AND THANK GOD FOR THOSE BRAVE INDIVIDUALS THAT TIME AFTER TIME..MAKE THAT SACRIFICE TO KEEP AMERICA STANDING...A FREE NATION. THANKS FOR SHARING AND BLESSINGS TO YOU.

I agree, Jeanette. I not only go through Memorial Days thinking of those who served in the military, but also with new-found respect, as I grow older, for all those who persisted in life to help bring us what we enjoy today. Amen Jeanette! I think, with a heavy heart, about our brave soldiers from all of the wars. We really need to keep the memory of their sacrifice alive, and maybe one day wars will end. I wrote a poem "Shouldn't We Tell The Children", that speaks of the need to tell our children how we came to live free.

Yes Jeanette, Memorial Day is not a day of celebration but of remembrance. As a poet you gave your share honorably. God bless those who gave their life and those who still carry their suffering.

This timely reminder says it all. I'd rather try to be happy and still remember them in thought and deed...M I asked my 12 yr old grandson if he knew why we celebrate Memorial Day , and He did know why. Guess they are learning something in school!....

This is such a wonderful Memorial Day Tribute, Jeanette. So often we forget the true meaning of these holidays...this is one of the better tributes that I've read.

Been There As My Closet True Friend Still Has All Those Bullet Holes In His Legs,i.e.Couldn't Have Said It Better Myself...

But:Greed Mongering Politician$ As Those Who You Know In Power (Israel$$) Will Still Continue To Create Wars,i.e. $BLOOD MONEY$...

AND: We US Taxpayer$ Give Them Israel Each Year In Return $3.5 Billion$ For Free In (SO CALLED) Military Aid...Throw Up....

AMEN Jeanette. It was never meant to be a day of celebration and partying. Sad how quickly we forget. It would be better to put Memorial Day back on May 30th like it was meant to be. Regardless of what day of the week it falls on. Our Patriotism has gone to hell as is our country. Great piece of honest work my friend. God bless.

an excellent write for the day-i remember when there were memorial day parades and then a walk to put flags on the graves of fallen soldiers and all the houses flew flags--i don't see that so much any more-
