Man of Value*
A man of value, worth and humility,
has nurtured, protected his family with care.
Starting out alone he wondered and thought,
what would his life be, with whom will he share.
God's journey took hold, set a course for his life,
questions were answered, in time he knew.
In the beginning, just him and his wife,
what would become of him, what would he do.
Two searched around, a nest they sought,
a place to call home, raise children they hoped.
Managing through all the struggle and strife,
learning how to live, enduring on they coped.
Children soon came, filled the home with love,
with tears in his eyes, papa was so proud.
His eyes did twinkle, heart filled with joy,
so jubilant he was high on a cloud.
Time took its toll, years went flying by,
his family was growing faster than he knew.
Understanding work was salvation and support,
still made time for play before children grew.
Baseball, football, roller skates and bikes,
time well spent with his girls and boys.
Shoulders sore, back it did ache,
yet, he played with his kids and their toys.
A one of a kind man valued by all,
now grandchildren come, encircle, surround.
Thanking God for all the blessings and grace,
to share in the love spread all around.
A man of value, worth and humility,
has nurtured, protected his family with care.
Starting out alone he wondered and thought,
what would his life be, with whom will he share.
Happy Father's Day!

A wonderful tribute to your Dad. Made me think of my own. Actually he was my stepdad but he never thought of himself that way and neither did I. He was poorly educated but loved to read even though I never knew exactly how much he could actually read. He reared 7 children by working as a lumber jack and working in a factory. Yet he taught us all, the importance of a hard days work. And if all the luxuries of life were taken from us tomorrow, he taught us how to survive. What I call the "old ways" I can plow a field with a hand plow, butcher a hog, hunt game, grow any crop, and fish, cut wood, and survive without electricity or running water because he took time to teach me these things. He taught me the same as he taught my brothers and never told me I couldn't do something because I was a girl. He died a couple of years ago and I think when he died I lost my best friend. Thank you, for reminding me how important he was and will always be to me.

To recognize his value and to openly share with him your feelings and gratitude will touch his heart in an act next to holiness.
To delay such deserved tribute is unconscionable. Let us all keep in mind the words of the great Kahlil Gibran:
"And ever has it been that love knows not
it's own depth until the hour of separation."
This is what a family is all about and why a loving family is the cornerstone of a good and noteworthy society.

So well written and the expression indicate true love for a special man and all he has accomplished after starting out so simplistically.

The boys will say, Happy Father's Day dad...uh...can I borrow the car?
A very tender poem.
