There will always be innocent victims on both sides which I detest and abhor...but oh please humanitarian crises plague this planet, just look at Africa for a start, Somalia, Ethiopia, which one should we put first?!...the Israelis have a right to their homes and their country..without fear of recrimination. For existing and unborn children we want peace but loathe as I am to say it, sometimes that has to be fought for as history attests. Eileen you seriously stirred me with this. Strong words and needed to be said. Panda :)

It was started long before that raid you truthfully describe. The British, after WW II, divided up the territory quite arbitrarily and found a place where hated Jewish people could find refuge instead of returning to their home countries. Creating a vacuum where this tinderbox could grow. Hamas started this round my kidnapping an Israeli soldier first.

Israel has been itching for an excuse to wipe out Hezbollah for many years. Unfortunately, their methods, like those in the US in Iraq, have colateral damage that opens sores that never heal. Only by genocide will a side win over the others' will. Who wants that hanging over their heads. Young Germans are having trouble with what their grandfathers did.

Hopefully, this marks the beginning of the end. At some point in time, everyone needs to stop lying to themselves and accept the truth. Israel has a right to defend itself against hostilities of any kind. Right on, Eileen. Right on!

We/one needs to take a measured honest look.
We.England. Messed up in 47.
But I can assure anyone that outside of the political arena. The real people on both sides are interested not only in superfical peace, but real peace with their real friends no-matter what race colour or creed or what side of the concrete wall. In 30 years 70% of those reading this will be under six foot of earth. The same earth people from other cultures are burried......

What message do we want to share with the children-unborn....

Lincon saw it for the blacks, yet that maybe PC but carries on regardless...

THE LEADERS OF RELIGIONS AND ALL POLITICIANS CONCERNED MUST RESPECT THE HUMAN RIGHTS. IT IS AN INTERNATIONAL COVENANT INTO LAW. IT MUST BE COMPLIED.

We need to call our leaders to comply with the laws. The Leaders of the THREE RELIGIONS OF ONE RELIGION, MECCA, ROMA and BETHLEHEM in JERUSALEM. We must also call the Five Permanent Members of The U.N. Security Council, and the General Secretary of NATO and UN., hoping that NATO will work fast ~and this time do their jobs ~ and outcast those terrorists.

This is a quote from Huda's poem Share Jerusalem:

Embrace each other with love and forgive
The pain, the injury, together we must live
Peace is the way, the dream and breath
That shall bring life after years of Death.

Unfortunately, Israel embraced the Lebanese people with ‘disproportionate’ violence, bombing civilians and infrastructure with no feeling of remorse. At least, the so-called terrorists apologized for killing civilians.

I’m ashamed my country is bragging about taking sides. I’m ashamed of you and my friend Peter of criticizing the voice of sanity and peace on our den.
I’m ashamed that my government had asked earlier my fellow citizens to pay for their evacuation while ‘Syria’ is welcoming Lebanese and foreigner refugees with no charge.
I’m so ashamed of the whole situation.
Instead of pointing fingers, PLEASE, pray for peace and sanity

I don't know what the answer is but war for 60 years in the middle east has not really resolved much for anyone. I fear for civilians on all sides.

No matter who started the war, Eileen, who dies in the war is a matter of high priority. Innocent people mostly women and children are losing their life in this battle. Those in the palaces, Israli authorities and Hisbullah leaders are not dying in the war. By taking this position of clarifying who had actually started the war will only put others on the side of defense and that will not stop the bloodshed. All what you said is true. Israel has been provocated and its soldiers attacked taking some of them as prisoners in both Gaza and Southern Lebanon but it gave a disproportionate response to its attackers by shelling residential areas in the two tension spots killing hun dreds and displacing thousands. I totally agree with you that Israel has been forced to enter a war which at all she was not expecting. an eye-opening write.

And I say that I support Israel!!! She has held her tongue, her anger and her dead FOR TO LONG!! In the name of peace? There will never be peace for the Israel, until she fights to make it so. She IS God's country. And she will have victory, of that I have NO doubt. I am happy to finally see that she will no longer keep giving to those of evil. I believe this extremely bloody conflict actually started centuries ago, between two very divergent culturally and religiously opposed peoples. And I believe that both you and Huda are right - innocents are dying on both sides - but they very sadly always do - in almost every human conflict.

Truth here Eileen ...Backed by Syria and Iran, Hezbollah has well-trained troops like most national armies with a central command. Like Hamas and Al Quaeda, Hezbollah also has sleeper cells in nations througout the world. These groups "fighters" believe they are wageing a holy war but is it really? More like power, dominance and the almighty dollar.

War has been the bane of humanity since the beginning, and there will always be sides, and opinions, where lines are always drawn. Ugliness and opinionism creeps up in the soul of man and friendships end, and friendships are forged.

For anyone to question Almighty God, the Creator of all, when things get tough, is an open declaration of personal ignorance to who He really is, and what His holy plans involve for this planet. War is indiscriminate, and innocents are always caught in the cross-hairs.

If the United States was bombed, some of us would die too.

What is innocence?

If we live in America and pledge out allegiance to her, if we enjoy her freedoms, and our own abilities to pursue and become who we want to be, then why don't we stand united during war.

It would seem that our very freedoms are tearing us assunder!

Huda I will leave your comment, but sad to say you did not leave mine on your poem! I hate war and have no issues with you. I just like truth! The women and children getting killed in Israel aren't terrorists either. You know Iran Syria who finance Hezbollah want Isral removed off the face of the earth. that is truth they even say it, and yet no one wants to hear the truth! it saddens me terribly if you and I cannot remain friends because of this.

Join the world in calling for an immediate cessation of hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah.
Lebanon “has been torn to shreds", said Lebanese Prime Minster Fouad Siniora. “I call upon you all to respond immediately... and provide urgent international humanitarian assistance to our war-stricken country. Can the international community stand by while such callous retribution by the state of Israel is inflicted on us?"
300 people had been killed and 500,000 others displaced in a week of Israeli attacks. Many thousands continue to flee Lebanon.
A humanitarian crisis is in the making.

The country has been under a total blockade for the last week preventing medications and necessary supplies to enter the country. Wounded people are not able to have the necessary treatment, and children and adults are suffering from a shortage of food and water.

Relief agencies say there is a growing need for water, sanitation and medical facilities for those displaced within Lebanon

French President Jacques Chirac called for humanitarian corridors in Lebanon to protect civilians from Israeli air raids as they flee the fighting.

I only join the Lebanese Prime Minister and the French President in their plea. Help stop the Violence.

Your command of the situation is apparent and well thought out. Your delivery is excellent, although it is not a poem in my opinion. You did well, nevertheless, but you are either preaching to the choir, or blabbering nonsense to the minions of the Islamic followers.
