In hallowed haunts the swan did hide
Sorrowfully seeking the mate that died
Remembering the sweetness of his love
That she could never get enough of

Alas, the days grew long with lonliness
She must bear  the mourning by herself
She knew what it felt like being half alive
As if someone had severed the best parts

She had not been alone for 14 yrs, what now
She remembered his face touching hers
Staring in each others eyes where passion lies
Loving that special time she made him rise

She hoped and begged to quickly join him
There could be only one love for a Swan
She knew he had been her perfect mate
Now all she could do was pray and wait

Yep. It is misery when THE one you love leave you. At least in death you have a shot at reuniting . . . Nice story/poem . . .

THE one partner in life is such a joy and blessing. The flip side of the coin - loss - is heartbreaking. Your poem is filled with love, makes me sad, but the longing is uplifting.

God bless you. Kathy
