they shrunk the photo so much you can't see the 3 webs covering the cactus!

You appear through the
prism of sunlight I blink
my eyes in surprise

I watch as softly and silently
you weave a lacy gossamer web
to  capture your prey

So fine I see only parts  of it
from sunbeams illuminating
glints through the shade

I stay still, fascinated as you swing
from one side to another spinning
silk from your abdomen

I think of a study I saw in which
they used drug fed fly's, to see
the effect on spiders

 Study done by Princeton University
in 1982 Spider Communication: Mechanisms
and Ecological Significance

They showed the different kinds
of webs woven on mescaline, lsd,
 hashish and caffeine

They clain to learn from  such studies,
but who really knowsif humans are
affected in the same way as spiders

I'm enchanted now observing this,
and can't help but smile thinking of
a  spider high on drugs ,weaving a web

I also wonder why I'm so afraid of them
 since it's not me they're after, but only
some food for sustenance

They make me think of  the many millions
of insects who all have their own method
of sustaining life

We humans  also kill to eat,
find bugs an intrusion, and destroy
them with glee, I know I do, but you spider,
 I'll let live~
