Did They Forget

Christmas comes but once a year,
Often kids don’t think it’s fear.
They don’t seem to understand,
The celebration of one great man.
They make their choice and write their list,
Not one thing do they forget,
Except to put Christ in their thoughts,
Will one day be their big regret.
Have parents forgotten to mention,
Why we celebrate this day each year,
Did they teach the little ones,
So each year they would care.
Did they tell them of this little Babe,
Wrapped in swaddling clothes,
In a stable in Bethlehem,
As the star so brightly rose.
Did they tell them of the three wise men,
And how they travelled far,
To bring special gifts to this new born king,
Led by the bright lit star.
Did they make their child understand,
This is His birth we celebrate,
To keep Him within our hearts,
Is never too late.

Why we celebrate this day each year?
I sadly think many have forgotten - both young and old.
we are celebrating the birth of Christ
But they can't or don't hear
through the sound of ruffling wrapping paper
and their excitement to see what they got......
but once all is unwrapped, I make it a point to repeat myself
