The holidays approach
With family at their core:
Thanksgiving around
The feasted table,
With Christmas around
The lighted tree;
The there comes
New Years Eve
When some of us
Surround ourselves
With friends
As we take part
In the world's largest party.
But what about the rest of us?
The ones who are estranged
From family,
Who don't possess
The personality for partying...
What about us?
We celebrate in our own ways:
With a few like-minded friends,
With a good book
Filled with interesting characters
We can identify with,
We spend time
Pampering ourselves
In ways unique to ourselves,
And we feed our soul
With whatever other nourishment
It needs.
We may be alone
But we refuse to isolate;
There's a world outside
And there's a world within
And both are pregnant
With possibilities!
