Poem Artwork

In A High Place
By La Belle Rouge

i want to sit here for hours
just me, God...and this high place
watch the farmer plow his valley
and the hawk circle high above
find cotton cloud creatures,
elephants or tigers or puppies
with floppy ears and docked tails
feel the wind whipping my hair
close my eyes and listen intently
to birds’ springtime cantatas
and the voice of the river as she flows
over craggy outcrops down to the sea

i feel the brush of angel wings
when i lift up my eyes to the heavens

i feel alive again...in a high place

as if i could fly from this peak to the next
wings spread wide, without looking down
oh Sweet Lord, wrap me in forever
open my ears to the voices
of those almost as ancient as these hills
teach me the secrets of your universe
how to touch the heights, plumb the depths
share secrets of joy, love and peace
teach me how to release them into the Earth
let me cast them down upon the mountain breeze
from the altar of this sacred high place
into the darkness far below me

i feel the breath of God, soft on my face
and his arm resting around my shoulder

i am alive again.... in a high place

Belle,
This is so beautiful when resting with the Lord i often go out into nature to be close to him for his beautiful workmanship and power is always so evident and majestic. The winds even speak of his Glory and power. This was so beautiful and inspiring for me this morning.

... and caught up with Him into His... You speak with His breath and He showers you with His inspiration and desires of His heart. This is wonderfully refreshing and detoxing, La Belle. It's the most beautiful thing to be able to both give and receive at the same time... and to and from the same beneficent hand. Wonderful thoughts expressed here. :)) xxx
