Landscape of a Dream

Sand dunes, driftwood, ocean blue,
Sounds of seagulls coming through,
Lost man walking aimlessly by.
Solitude visited, calmness felt,
children playing
lovers swaying.
Lost man sitting on a rock
thoughts of her filled the air
seagulls flying without a care.
Waves kissing the sunbaked shore,
Lost man wishing for a cure,
to end the loneliness creeping inside his cave.
Waders shouting gleeful screams,
Lost man says,
"Nothing is what it seems".
Cloudless sky begins to frown,
rain begins to pelt down,
Everyone scatters away so quickly.
Lost man sits upon his rock
Knowing that time
is his own clock!

And the collective consciousness is also fascinating: I wrote a poem yesterday, also playing with ideas of solitude versus loneliness, with some exact-same imagery, like this:
Loneliness is the sudden
clapping of time’s hands,
closing on the strike of twelve:
a draught, a gasp,
a chink, a link,
a blink, a hic, a tic…
that momentary eyelid flicker
when your own soul opens
the door to you –
then drifts away unseen.
Love the commonality of this dream landscape, but also its unique perspectives as seen through the mind and eyes of the solitary one. xx
