So many of you beautiful ladies at AD have been my readers and encouragers, even when I am absent for long periods of time. I am writing a collection of poems that are dedicated to you. These are my gifts to you, not only for your support but in tribute to the unique and wonderful woman each of your are. This one is for Lady Joyce Bell
her smooth skin is a plethora of mature beauty
high, sculpted cheekbones enviable by goddesses
glowing tones of robust coffee gentled with cream
her angelic white hair a priceless crown of wisdom
she walks regally, her presence is always royal
like a majestic Nubian Queen of ancient times
for she is a beloved daughter of the Most High King
she well knows i am a sinful man with a dark side
and yet, she continues to paint me in the best light
inspiring me to become….someday, a better man
she is a beacon of love in a dark universe of pain
for her gold has been refined in fires of suffering
where she rushed to embrace grace and mercy
learning how to release them both unto others
the world is a better place, because she is in it
DON JUAN, I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO SAY...I WAS 1:45AM AND I WAS JUST BROWSING THROUGH AD WHEN I CAME ACROSS THIS POEM...THIS WONDERFUL TRIBUTE. I MISSED THIS BUT GOD, WHO IS EVER IN CHARGE AND WHO KNOWS HOW TO DISPENSE BEAUTIFUL GIFTS INTO OUR LIVES AT THE RIGHT TIME LED ME TO YOUR DEN AT THIS PARTICULAR TIME. AND JUST TO ATTEST TO HIS AWESOMENESS, LET ME EXPLAIN HOW I KNOW WHY HE HAS ALLOWED ME TO FIND THIS WORK NOW AND NOT BEFORE. IT WAS ONLY A FEW DAYS AGO THAT I WAS LISTENING TO A SERMON THAT DEALT WITH 'RECOGNIZING OUR CALLING'. WE ARE POUNDED SO INTENSELY BY THE ENEMY OF THIS WORLD THAT SOMETIMES WE DO WONDER...'AM I MAKING A DIFFERENCE?' I KNOW MY CALLING IS NOT TO BE A PREACHER HOWEVER, I AM A SPEAKER/POET/TEACHER/SINGER AND WRITER FOR GOD, WHO IS OUR LORD AND SAVIOR, JESUS THE CHRIST. IT IS THROUGH HIS ANOINTING THAT I AM USED TO DIRECT OTHERS TO HIM AND IT IS A BLESSING WHEN THROUGH A TESTIMONY SUCH AS THIS, MY CALLING IS SUBSTANTIATED. HOWEVER, MY DEAR FRIEND, PLEASE ALWAYS REMEMBER SOMETHING...WE ARE ON THE SAME ROAD. I AM NOT YET REFINED BUT I AM BEING REFINED IN THE FURNACE OF AFFLICTION, AS YOU ARE. I ADMIT, I AM A LITTLE AHEAD OF YOU(I AM OLDER-SMILE)AND HAVE BEEN IN THE FURNACE A LITTLE LONGER HOWEVER, YOU, I AND SO MANY OTHERS ARE ALL 'PILGRIMS' TRYING TO MAKE HEAVEN OUR HOME. WE FALL OFTEN, BUT THE SAME HAND THAT LIFTS ME, LIFTS YOU ALSO. THE ONLY SQUEAKY CLEAN OR SHINY ONE ON THIS ROAD...IS JESUS. AND HE IS THE ONE WE MUST KEEP OUR EYES ON. AS I ALWAYS TELL MY CHILDREN; I, BEING HUMAN, WILL OFTEN COME SHORT BUT JESUS, BEING PERFECT...HE WILL 'NEVER' COME SHORT. THUS, I ENCOURAGE YOU TO FOLLOW HIM...NOT ME. IT IS WITH A GREAT DEAL OF JOY AND APPRECIATION THAT I THANK GOD FOR YOU AND AM GRATEFUL FOR THE BEAUTIFUL PHRASES THAT YOU HAVE BEEN INSPIRED TO PEN. AND THOUGH, AS I SAID, IT SEEMS LIKE MY FINDING THIS WORK IS LATE...IT IS RIGHT ON TIME. THUS, I ACCEPT THIS TOKEN AND TAKE IT IN THE TRUE SPIRIT OF CHRISTIAN LOVE...THAT IT WAS GIVEN. MAY GOD CONTINUE TO BLESS YOU AND KEEP YOU, DON, AS YOU MOVE FORWARD AND UPWARD ON YOUR JOURNEY. AND MAY LOVE & FAITH IN ABUNDANCE OVERFLOW AND BE YOURS...
