Back when I turned forty,
my friends took me
to see the male strippers.
I never knew there was
somewhere you could go
where there was so much action
without
any
action.
We were but small dots
in a sea of faces, and
distorted by the strobing
pulsating lights set to music,
sexy, seductive, and LOUD,
but the music had to be loud
to be heard
above all the
screaming women ...
(BOOM ta da BOOM ta da BOOM)
“Take it off! Take it off and throw it here!”
(BOOM ta da BOOM ta da BOOM)
“Shake it, Ooo baby!
Take it all off!”
and a tan and muscled
young man humped and ground
a well-packed G-string
in a woman’s face
two
seats
down.
I remember thinking,
ho-ly crap, what if I’m next ...
Mama always told us
'look but don’t touch'
but somehow,
the not touching
was SO much easier
when I was five ...
Gotta love the classic last three lines, only thing is about our mothers, they, too had their days of "not-touching, like yeah, sure" although we don't really like to think about it much. Love this poem.
hahaha CJ those last line took the cake! I only saw them on tv,no comment;-) loved the poem!
