HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO ALL THE GREAT DADS OUT THERE!!!

Photo of Rick and Nina when she was barely 1 year old.

Poem Artwork

He may or may not
be your favorite but he is
the one most forgotten
most undervalued and most often
he swallows his words--
Mom always had the last
The faithful benchwarmer
calm warrior, man of steel
silent watcher by day
demon fighter by night

Doesn't usually wear his emotions on sleeve
but he is the third leg on the stool
he wipes all tears, calms all fears
that's a Dad for you!

So, today, when you think
of everything he did or didn't do
remember it may not be too obvious
but someone else loves you too as much as Mom--
takes pride in the things you do

He is the forever coach who never runs out of
a "You can do it" speech
and if you're one of those
whose Dad didn't live up to the example
here's an opportunity to say a prayer for him anyway
whatever you do
just think of Dad
especially in June!

(Think of him all year long!)

Well put together... your poem offers the perfection of dads, as well as the not so perfect parts of fathers. I think I have learned to appreciate my father over the last couple of years since my mom's death. And I am happy that I have... :~)

You have such a balanced and respectful view of Fatherhood and appreciate all that is seen and unseen about this critical male role. And fabulous that Rick more than fulfills! :)) Bless you, Bernice. You do the men in your life proud as you lavish the blessing of your woman's love in every conceivable way into their every aspect and function. A most heart-warming, faith-building picture. I never celebrated fathers day Bernice because I never had a father in my life, I have celebrated surviving regardless of this and I can celebrate that I would never be the deadbeat that my father was. Also I will celebrate for my father to help cure myself, thanks for this great poetic reminder to be kinder, :-) hugs

I hope that somehow somewhere my children remember their father just one day, or just only one moment, is that much to ask?

Beautiful photo of Rick and Nina, and a wonderful poem.
Just this morning, thinking of my life, I realized THE TRUEST BEST FATHER in my life was and is and always will be our heavenly father God. He IS all I have to comfort, guide, protect and provide for me.
So, I honor Him extra specially this month, along with blessing the special men in my life who are wonderful fathers to their children.

Wonderful reminder and tribute to the sometimes-forgotten man in our lives, Dad.
My Dad drank way too much, but still had many good qualities. Those are the things we should focus on.
Children of all ages, forgive your Dad for offenses, real or imagined. He needs your love and respect. I love you, Dad. Say it now while you still have the opportunity.
Thank you, Bernice, for the great reminder of the importance of Dads.

Love,
Connie

Your words are just...wonderful, Bernice. They should be included in all Father's Day cards. And ALL fathers/dads should get a card, no matter what. Love this beautiful and poignant pom, dear friend!!

I lost my beloved Father when quite young; then years later was blessed with a wonderful step-father...my Dad...and hold them both dearly in my heart.
Blessings and Love and Appreciation ~~ Micke
