Poem Artwork

Tall trees sway,

As if nodding in welcome,

Amid milkweed and honeysuckle

That hug secret paths.

In the shade of the

Oaks sits a clearing.

Smiling, you stroll through

Wildflowers – breeze lifting your hair –

Blue sky behind you.

In silence I watch

As you pick off their

Petals – aimlessly tossing

Them into the wind.

Don't want to be morbid. But still grieving Tom. Will be a year Aug 17 and the photo reminded me that I bought 2 bunches of daisies just like these to put on his grave on that day. Daisies are for love too, and I loved him very much. Time heals though but it takes so long. I don't have too many aimless afternoons though, keep busy.

Dawn - Love the simplicity and rich imagery of this poem. It has the tone of an aimless afternoon, and holds a completeness in its simplicity. - David

Really nicely done, Dawn.
Maybe it’s just me, but I thought the picking and tossing of petals could represent a little thoughtlessness.

The seeming obliviousness of the subject could mean he is either so in tune with nature that he just absorbs the beauty around him...
or he is one of those who do not know how to take the time, lay in the shade and smell the flowers.
