Poem Artwork

There was something in the air tonight...
something that felt a bit not right.
It wasn't something she heard or smelt
- it was simply something that she felt.
Over the treetops and in the deep of the wood
she felt it coming and was sure it wasn't good.
Evil has a feeling about it that is hard to describe.
It is sort of a tingle with a chillingly cold and biting vibe.
She knew that she had to hurry to her special place.
She knew she needed to be there before she saw Evil's face.
For that was where her power was strong...
and there was where she would fight it before long.
She wasn't a witch in the wordly and conventional sense.
She didn't know all terms used for who she was,  I will say in her defense.
What she was or wasn't....well, that simply wasn't important to her.
It was what she did for others and how her herbs gave them a cure.
She knew who she was and for what she stood for
and that was good enough for her loved ones and even more -
it was good enough for her and gave her peace of mind.
As we all know, that is something that is hard to find.
Tonight she knew all her knowledge, power and might
would be called upon to keep evil from winning the fight.
Standing tall, in the midst of her circle of light,
she summoned the power of good and right.
She called upon spirits of the earth and the air.
Then she called upon water and fire to come there.
She called upon her friends of whom she had often sought...
and then she summoned up the knowledge of wisdom and thought.
Standing  in the clearing, inside the protection of the circle, she was ready for a fight.
She stood upon an earthen floor surrounded by wind, mist and bathed in firelight.
Good surrounded her in swirls of a multicolored hues
(I don't think I would want to be in her shoes).
Evil was coming - she felt it in the air and it was coming fast.
This battle was about to begin and who knows how long it would last.
The battle raged long after the toll of midnight.
It ended just before the coming of dawn's welcoming light.
Wearily she went back to her cottage in the wood and climbed into bed.
She slept well and dreams of comfort and warmth slipped into her head.
The man she loved held her tight in the security of his  embrace
and she forgot, in his arms,  the sight of Evil's beautiful face.
Remember this warning and remember it well as you should:
Evil sometimes is beautiful and can tempt you from good.
Use the love you have in your heart and the brains in your head
and don't hesitate to call upon your friends to help you fight what you dread.

"Circle of Friends" was like a motion picture to my eyes… I saw the images as I read through its lines.

This poem was poemized with emotions struck by knowledge of history of mysteries and tales of the unknown (said to be known) co-existing entities, – imaginary beings, – which were used as background for the deliverance of a wise message that was poetized with words dictated by a heart that knows the beats of wisdom.

This inspiring poem, “Circle of Friends" etched a message on my mind that “Evil is ubiquitous and omnifarious, but it can't show its face in a “Circle of Friends", for friends are mirrors of truth under the light of LOVE, and Evil can't be shown by the mirror of friendship.”

I thank You, Inspired One for sharing this magnificent "Circle of Friends", an enchanting and instructing poem, and true poetical

WRITING.
