Bring me back as a tiger once, at least. White, gold, orange, bronze, your choice, as long as I lie weightless and lithe along a branch with no more on my mind than shifts of light and dark that believe they masquerade as trees. Stripe me visible only to me. See my paws sport rugged pads. Claws are just sharp enough. Let my breath come easy. Tell me when to breathe. Give me the sense to luxuriate in the lush fur that serves to hide until it strikes. Hundreds of spaces lurk beneath so I can genie to phantoms now curved, now eeling long, in a flash. Ripple my sides and widen my eyes to amber lamps as I leap to thrill to the chase. Oh, and do be sure I fill my belly strictly out of need. Leave the jungle as I found it.
I love the power and hop of this wonderful words
And I truly love tigers and think their just beautiful
Excellent I enjoyed this read very much!!

Resonates my poem Reincarnate...shame poachers kill these animals to make Chinese medicines. In high country Colorado where I live, I am a few acres away from my neighbors who own a wildlife rehabilitation private facility. The Department of Wildlife confiscated these lions from people who had them illegally. For years, I have had the opportunity to live amongst these zoo kenneled animals because they can never be released into the wild after human imprinting. I just walk up the road where wild antelope and deer follow me to visit the lions...the scent in my mountain air here is full of wildness from these animals...I live in raw nature here...my wolves answer the calls of these lions when they roar...it gets really vocal, especially on the full moon nights...vernal equinox coming up, Pea...great shapeshifter poem...
Wistful in fantasy perhaps but there is a deeper meaning here and it is also a fine ode to a wonderful creature. Thank you for sharing, Pea. Love and peace,
Beautiful, Phyllis. You have given me a glimpse into the mind of the tiger poised on the branch. Or so it seems.
I also like the transition to protection of the jungle in the last 3 lines.

Good idea, Phyllis. Us humans seem to have forgotten what it is to simply be at ease and enjoy what life has to offer, and we do destroy an awful lot of things. Loved it!
For my quickness, I am rewarded with a glimpse of the illusive T I G E R stalking the Den! This is absolutely mesmerizing poetry, as beautiful as the big cat you portray in vivid imagery. BRAVA, my dear, you've penned another one into my library, where you will never be endangered! *applause*
