Pure, unadulterated silliness.

Poem Artwork

I have this friend who is not a bad fellow,
But he wants you to tickle him night and day.
To laugh 'til his belly shakes like Jell-o
And roll on the ground scaring children away.

He doesn't think clowns are funny.
He is scared of their big flapping shoes.
He doesn't like monkeys or Bugs Bunny.
Politicians and trick pillows fail to amuse.

So I think, and think, and think some more.
Trouble is, I am not the deepest of thinkers.
Finally take him to The Comedy Store
To watch stand-up.  Stinker...stinker...stinker...

On the way back, I run my car into a tree.
When I come to, he is laughing, fit to die,
And pointing at me.  I check a bit of mirror to see
What's so funny.  I've got a squirrel tail for a tie!

I go to a vet and have the tail removed.
Good news is, neither of us has been injured.
I fainted, was all.  Which just goes to prove
Squirrely happens, and you need to be insured.

I have stopped trying to make the lad laugh.
Ask me, he has a weird sense of humor.
Once I saw him give a feral cat a bath.
Could it be he is just a late bloomer?

That surely was squirrely...but don't call me Shirley. I surely hope you didn't hurt the tree, for surely a tree hugger I be, Pea. And don't call me Shirley cuz this poem is silly as can be, see?

I like nonsense. Makes more sense than moping lovesick blah, blah, blah.

Squirrely Happens

It happens around our place, just about every day.

PS: I always make my wife give the feral cats a bath, some of them have fleas!

Good fun! There should be more silliness in this world. We take the serious too seriously!
