People hurrying past
I'm glad they don't see
The bruises I'm hiding
Or the pain inside of me
They rush home
To their perfect life
Never knowing what it's like
To be an abused wife
I can feel the sun
Burning on my face
But my heart still abides
In a cold dark place
I don't want to go home
He's waiting there
But who ever said
That life is fair
My footsteps are slow
As I near my door
I know exactly
What I'm in for
What would happen
If I didn't go in
Took back my courage
To live again
No where to run
No place I can go
Where he wouldn't find me
That much I know
People hurrying past
I'm glad they don't see
The bruises I'm hiding
Or the pain inside of me

Like our people who abuse the prisoners in Iraq, we don't want to know who these people are, because it could be us.
Most of us don't beat one another with fists, but how often did a cold word have to be cold? How much did it hurt?
Maybe a lot.
Thank you Linda...for being one of those rare people who absoluely makes the world a better place.
You do!

It takes me a few minutes to compose myself after reading your heart wrenching writes. (But unfortunately it is necessary that you do it, and you do it very well too!). Far too often anyone who is abused that doesn’t or cannot seek out professional help is only prolonging the needless suffering. In today’s society, it is very easy to pick a telephone, and have the police, or the courts become involved, or just go to a neighbor’s home. (After all the police are supposed to be here to serve and protect all of us). Yes, there is always the risk of invading ones privacy, and the possibility of the children, if they are abused being removed away from the abuser. (That’s a whole other issue to deal with). Yet, without proper documentation to support the allegation, the long-term detrimental effects on the people involved, will continue to manifest until someone is either beaten so bad, or worse… I do not understand why our government will not sacrifice just one B-2 Bomber, and create the necessary funding that will fill in the gap, which in the long-term will save everyone, including whatever so-called government agencies from becoming over burden with cases, or the already backlog clogging the courts today. I can only hope and pray that this shameful, unacceptable behavior is totally eliminated in our lifetime. I guess I rambled on enough yet, although I know it isn’t enough, I just wish it would all just STOP!!! Thank you for sharing your heart with the rest of us Poet. Keep The Faith.
My Deepest Gratitude, Respect And Admiration.

Your words are awlays truthfull and make deep lacerations in the hearts of the ones who are going through this now or who have gone through it. For us who haven't, we can understand and show smpathy and love for thos who have. You have all my love and admiration. I always feel this way when I read your masterpieces of poetry. Hug
