Are you really me
I feel like I’m living out
A real life fantasy
Back an forth to different
Homes since I was four
Mama had left me
She didn’t want me no more
Different faces, different lives
Never was the same
Every home was different
No one was to blame
I just wasn’t happy
Didn’t matter where I’d go
My heart was busy searching
For what I didn’t know
A month ago I moved again
But I dared not hope
If anything I’d learned
To manage and to cope
Slowly I begin to smile
My heart started to melt
Love gently washed away
All the bad feelings I’d felt
Now a smiling face
Is staring back at me
I never knew how beautiful
Life could be
“Mama” gives me hugs and kisses
“Daddy” gives them too
I’m living out a dream
Can this be true
My own room , my own friends
I even like my school
Sometimes I have sleepovers
That is so cool
The little girl in me
Don't hide anymore
Thank you God for giving me
All I had prayed for

This is so beautiful and poignant at the same time. I am reminded of a prayer I pray often for the children who roam the streets at night, unloved, unwanted, uncared. It is great that this little girl found a loving home. Great poem. Vicor

A soul touching write. Children are our greatest gift giveth of God. Though some can lose all purpose in finding happiness due to circumstances beyond their control. This write expresses a little girl, who truely was given a second chance finding love and happiness in her heart. A beautiful write.
OH my goodness you've penned an outstanding and very heartwarming realistic poem here my dear friend...you've penned the life of a little girl in my classroom and many other little girls I am sure...I have a little girl in my classroom who is in foster care as I speak, she is adjusting well and lately I've noticed a smile on her face that wasn't there before. The couple whom she is living with goes to church with me and are an upstanding couple with much to give, they are unable to have children. The trio seems to be very happy! You've touched me deeply with this one! All children deserve the opportunity to look in the mirror and see a smiling face! This one is a keeper for me!

Linda, this poem really states an overwhelming truth. There are so many poor children out there without homes. I was a foster mother years ago, and can vouch for the truth and sincerity of feelings of what you've written. Great write, my friend.
