Poem Artwork

Crowded grocery store
People rushing by
Hoping they don't see
A grown woman cry
I still see his face
Engraved in my mind
After all these years
Peace is hard to find

Panic consumes me
I'm drawn into the past
Crying on bloodstained sheets
Heart beating fast
Teddy bear falls to the floor
A six year old can't fight
My screams of pain went unheard
Swallowed by the night

The shadows simply watched
Innocence ripped away
As my teddy bear slept
And night turned into day
Cigar smoke filled the room
I can't forget the smell
As I lay on crumpled sheets
In my own private hell

Crowded grocery store
But I feel so alone
Except for the feel of his hands
And the stench of cheap cologne

Having been abused sexually as a child, I can relate to this write very well. It sickens me to know that somewhere at this very moment a child is going through this hell. You've captured the abused feelings well with this poem.

I enjoyed your work, I thank you for reading mine, this is excellent, and your flow is right on. I also offer you my prayers, I was emotionally abused by my father, I learned to write to express myself, there was only me and God to talk too. So I'LL remember you in my prayers, cause I know it is a hard battle.

Linda, not many words can describe how I felt while reading this poem. It stands as a testament to all children/adults that have dealt with this terrible sickness (or whatever it is). Great job my friend.

Fabulous Title Linda, and the illustration compliments the subject matter perfectly.

Tears seem to find an outlet no matter what time it is or where one is at. This is a powerful piece that wrenches the heart and nails ones emotions to the wall. Blessings to you ...

Somatic memories triggered by a smell. There is a blessing in knowing where it comes from. Then knowing one is far away from that time in the present. Excellant words of deep feelings. Lady J

No excuses.
No outraged human rights.

I have to echo La Belle in saying "powerful and heart-wrenching"
What a sad, sad story, and worse because it is repeated over and over again all across our nation. God help us.

This is deep and its poemization reaches strikes the heart. A profound picture of ontologic reality.
