Captured by the years
You had me under your spell
Even now I can't seem
To climb out of this hell
So many scars I still carry
Buried deep in my heart
They still haunt my dreams
Even though we are apart
Will you ever leave me
Am I still in your control
After all this time
Why do you have this hold
I can still hear your put downs
And I feel one inch tall
My self esteem, my inner peace
Man, you took it all
The bitterness I feel
I've tried to put away
Maybe as time moves on I will
But it won't be today
There is too much rage inside
And it keeps hanging on
I'm just giving you more power
Even though I know its wrong
Captured by your abuse
Your darkness is all I see
I want to walk in the sunshine
But you won't let me be...
again you do this kindof poetry like no other the pain, the different stages and time you know this feeling and expressit oh so well
your outstanding and i love it!!!
Wow what a powerful write my dear friend, if this is true, prayer is about the only way to let loose of the past to find that inner peace and allow you to become you! If this is fiction, my dear you are a master, you draw the reader in to the very last word! Enjoyed this look at a very personal part of life that is therapeutic to write about, sadly this is a life for many, physical and mental abuse is terrible! My mother through much prayer, faith, family, and friend, overcame the abuse of my father. Great write, fiction or nonfiction!

It's amazing what people are capable of stealing from the hearts and souls of others. This is a powerful portrait of human indiscretion. Well done Linda ...

Well done Linda, a reminder that once the abuse has stopped, it still lingers and is just as powerful afterward the fact.
