This poem is darker than my usual write. I hope this makes you think...does anyone REALLY know whats in another's mind...?

Poem Artwork

She applies her makeup
With an elegant air
Combs until it shines
Her short blond hair
The latest fashion
Graces her demure frame
The clothes in her closet
Bear all the brand names

She smiles at the neighbors
As she locks her front door
Just like she's done
A thousand times before
She climbs in her car
The finest Roll's around
Such a beautiful lady
Whispers the whole town

She stops at a river
How peaceful it seems
She takes off her shoes
And abandons her dreams
She walks her last mile
The river claims her life
Such a beautiful lady
The most perfect wife

You never know what's going on in someone's mind. Powerful way of underlining that truth....\

happiness is emotionally subjective and so is the way people react to their perception of it ... very well written ...

Wow powerful poem Linda. Yes our outer selves can portray a very different picture to the inner turmoil. I pray anyone reading this who is feeling suicidal may be able to open up to someone even just one person they can trust and know that they are precious, all of them not just whats on the outside but the dark stuff inside too. God sees it all but his love is beyond words. Thank you for writing such a moving and thought provoking poem Linda. God bless. Baz

Yes perfection can be a killer. Great capture of suicides that take us by surprise.

Wow! Never expected that!!! Very well done, Linda....love the attention to detail..and you're absolutely right...we just don't know what another is thinking...the outside might look polished and perfect...but the inside is often shattered....Great job!

This is so sad but you have well stated what life is like. We see the book's cover. Not always do we read it, nor understand it when we do...

This is the kind this is the kind of poetry I admire. There are often deep seated problems in superficial lives.

Suicide is perhaps one of the most personal acts a person can perform. The acts or warnings leading up to them are often in plain sight and yet most people fail to recognize them, especially if it is someone we love or care about. It has no boundaries...rich or poor, male or female, young or old, beautiful or ugly...
