Poem Artwork

Dedicated to the memory of

Miriam Makeba

Aka

"Mama Africa"

March 3, 1932 – November 10, 2008

We sang your praises

As you finished your song

We asked for more

At the precise moment God

Called you home

His Will is Devine

His Grace undefined

As He allowed us to embed in our memories

The precious gift of you singing "Pata Pata"

One last time

To those who were there

On that predestined night

And those who were not

In times that are always changing

Leaving the personal and political sacrifices of the past

Buried and lost

I implore you to

Let not those of of the songstress, poet, activist, mother to a Nation, Continent and Race be for naught…
