When someone you love turns out to be a monster, it is called spousal abuse. So many share in these feelings.
Blankness

When the night called me I answered
“Here I am.”
Forever lost in the mist and yet,
behind these glass eyes I can see sunlight,
unreachable for me as in blankness I stare.
Removing myself from the agony of pain
by one that should have loved,
but no love has he to share.
Ripping my clothes and words so vile,
I take myself away into a place that is
blank of all feeling to save me
from opening my mouth and screaming.
Time and time again he comes,
returning to the scene of the crime.
Silence I give to him in my eyes,
blankness returns and reigns supreme.
He drags me into his hell,
one I have become accustomed to
sinking forever into blackness.
Blankness is my savior once again
Stumbling away drunk once again
I see a shadow of what was once a man.
One that was really two
Kathleen this tears my heart out because I know there are so many out there living through this hell life because they feel they have to. They shut themselves down and soon start thinking that they deseve this abuse, when they don't. No one deserves to be abused in any way. Thank you for sharing.

The harsh reality of loving someone who although may have always been an abuser but it doesn't manifest itself till hearts and vows are exchanged is frightening. There mind and heart can only take so much and then they soon learn to shut themselves down. You captured all the emotions, pain, yearning and loathing that builds up in these self destructive relationships...
