Sometimes things are not as they seem

The Shift-Changer©

By: Kathy Lynn

Billowing black clouds shroud a full moon tonight

But to one it is a great delight

So dark and ominous to the human eye

But she can see perfectly well through this sky

Setting her sights for the nearest lounge in town

She saunters to the bar and looks around

All dressed in black with tresses of shinning black hair

The men in the bar can only turn and stare

Eyes of green gleaming as she sits and watches her prey

Who will be the unlucky one today

Her voice so sexy and low

That the men start to lose all self-control

One approaches and sits next to her on a seat

He is figuring he is in for a special treat

He says,”Good evening, how are you today?”

She just smiles and turns slowly away

Hands with nails so long they curve,

A sly smile on her face showing her nerve.

She strokes his head and face

The man feels he will get her embrace

She whispers to him to follow her lead,

Into the dark damp air for his need .

With only the moon for a glistening light,

He grabs her and holds her squeezing her tight.

Suddenly she starts to change

Her hair turns into a silky mange

Eyes of green turn fierce and wild

This is no ordinary woman child

A black panther she has become,

From her no man can run.

She reaches out and grabs him by the neck,

Throwing him around and having her fun.

Fangs draw blood from his neck

As her claws run down his back

No chance for him to scream and shout

He knows now he has lost this bout

Slowly she slinks into the night,

Leaving the man dead out of sight

Changing again to a woman of grace,

The sexy woman with a beautiful face.

Very effective, dark, and compelling, Kathleen. I love "woman" but I would not like to meet this shape-shifting creature I'm afraid. Love and best wishes to you,

Regis

Legends of shift changers abound I belive in all cultures and ages past and your write here brings one type of them alive in a way that is both frightening but bold in imagery and imagination.

I have taken pride in writing this novel as so many people have the wrong impression on bikers because they dress in leather clothing which is to protect themselves in case of an accident. The majority of bikers are known Policemen, Firemen, Doctors,
