it was all too clear . . . '

Poem Artwork

He wanted to know as Cloud Number 9

floated by, what the excitement was all

about; his health was failing - was being

reduced to skin and bone.

Didn't really matter as he was taking

umpteen drugs intravenously, but they

weren't of any help - any hope of a

speedy recovery was too far gone.

At this point in time he had nothing

to loose; his wife had left him after

he was no longer muscular - even

his faithful dog ran off.

So, he decided to poke his head in

Cloud Number 9 to take a look-see

Saw a place where people who had

his disease get a little bit slower.

They all exhibited the same symptoms

All manufactured by the doctors and the

pharmecutical companies; and then had

the reps deliver them on a silver plate.

Now, it was all too clear; his memory

did a 180 - "You'll sustain nothing worse

than a few side effects;" "For example,

in just a few short months you'll be dead!"

"In other words, when the Grim Reaper

knocks at your door, let him spend the

night; 'cause you'll be leaving in the

mourn;" "No need to pack your bags."

"Gee, doc, thanks a lot!" "How much

do I owe you?" "Just your life - now

go on, get outta here!" "Nurse, be

sure you notify his next of kin."

Before he pulled his head out of Cloud

Number 9, a hearse drove by; saw a

coffin inside; was laying there - nothing

but skeletal remains holding divorce papers.

Back in 1997 in the sizzling hot months of July the police went to my Uncles house-his mail unchecked for 9 days & seen Amittyville Horror flies on all the windows...yep Uncle was inside swelled to high heavens, but clutched in his hands were divorce papers & a washrag on his forehead.....he was a monster...sadly not missed at all by me.

Oh how sad a write my friend. WE do trust Drs. which some well deserve, but there are some that just see the money and not the beautiful person in front of them. He lost so much with his marriage, trusted pet and illness. This is so sad and so believably true. Well written and well received. Love and hugs, Bonnie
