For My Valentine…
This year let’s not ask
That silly question
That interrogatory of juvenile love
Those words that underlie
All that we think we are
All that we could ever want to be
Cast with such a childish flair
Couched in such a trivial tone
And hidden in a box of
Chocolates
As if a sweet taste
Could cleanse our thoughts
And sweeten our affection
And propel our passions
To undiscovered heights.
Oh no, not this year
This time let’s return to
That place where it
All started
When we were young
When we did not need words
When we knew everything
About passion and love
When our greatest joy
Was in our youthful
Discoveries
When tomorrow would
Take care of itself.
Besides, our eyesight
Is failing now and our hair
Is gray, what’s left of it
And our memories
Are too unreliable
And our dreams come
And go like the
Unreliable weather.
Instead I only want to ask
You one question—
Can we go back to those
Youthful days and foolish
Times once again when a
Box of chocolates was
All we could afford and the
Payoff was just…
A little magic?
Youthful days and foolish
Times once again when a
Box of chocolates was
All we could afford and the
Payoff was just…
A little magic?
I find myself sitting here, reading the words over and over again, noting the sensations within my body, mind heart and soul, breathing breath that seems to be sharing YOURS..hmmmm...now isn't THAT rather interesting..
Fascinating how ordinary words pierce the veil and enter the altar of love hidden in each one of us.
I am saving this one Edward as I may save a few more of your gems!
Thank you for illuminating this rainy, grey morning on the northern coast of Croatia...indeed each one of us can gift the other with so much 'sweet magic' perhaps without even realizing it :)
What a 'payoff' THAT is eh?
