This poem is a spoof about a 50 year old who never matured past age 16. He never was cool, was never looked on by his peers as cool, but never knew it. He just wasted his life stuck in a make believe time warp.

A Cool Guy

Cool cool cool cool
Cool is what I am.
Rule rule rule rule
I’ll rule you if I can.
I’m a wasted dude and I’m in no mood
To start up eatin’ that healthy food
Yes cool cool cool cool
Cool is what I am.

Now when I was young and in my prime
The girls used to kiss me all the time
I’d ask for a nickel they’d give me a dime
And fifteen cents for overtime.
Yes cool cool cool cool
Cool is what I am.

It was long ago and far away
I took a little trip on the Bengal Bay
All the young ladies just love to play
They made me smile they made me stay
Yes cool cool cool cool
Cool is what I am.

The doctor told me I was gonna die
He said give up don’t even try
You never shoulda used that Spanish fly
Yes cool cool cool cool
Cool is what I am.

My days are numbered I’m on the lam
I’m not worth a penny or a tinker’s damn
Put me on that boat to old Siam
Gimme one more shot at that grand slam
Yes cool cool cool cool
Cool is what I am.

I was never cool.
I was never hot.
But a little dab of Brylcreme,
made for a better mug shot.

Old-school cool. You nailed this one. I've known a few of those dudes… Gone now, mostly. Trying to live out the legend. Cool.

Cool, but either shallow inside or jaded from seeing and doing everything and having all the girls, such that it's gotten old, but he still holds on to his coolness. The bad boy is now running away from the law because that's what cool people do, especially if he's got a deadly STD from his time being a ladies man. Reminds me of that poem where the writer says, "We too cool, we skip school, we have fun, we die young..." It was a female black writer. Good work. Danae

Oh! Memory what acclaim you bring,
to joys our youth would often sing.
Now it’s quite hard for us to hear
those praises of our past yesteryear.
