Sigh...

Poem Artwork

Abyss

So restless
am I
without you
my soul
may become
a shooting star
leaving the husk of all
that’s left of me
scattered about
like chaff
upon the wind of time
to be swallowed
by a black hole

I like what I call "capsule poems" That old "message in a bottle thing" tossed out from struggling, crying souls into the Sea of Madness. In these things the you can't afford to mis-title them. And you didn't. Reminds me of my jazz-rock song (with lyrics) "The Deep Abyss" which is on my new CD with vocals and will be posted here when I get the "digitizer". Very sad and inspired. Nodopaka's suggestion is not bad though...
(the black hole itself in my writing would have been a black void as a black hole is a notion too prosaic to express what I would feel in such a state).
Beautiful and direct as is all your poetry.

We all have tasted this type of fear at some point in our journey here. And the "black hole" of Love is one of the most unnerving fears that there is. But the heart of who we are decides whether we are lost inside the "Abyss" or not. Love is not for the faint. :)

I love reading your writings. No matter what you write, the emotions are direct and obvious for us all.

You have a very good poem here. I wish there would be more to it but then it'd stifle my imagination.

And as a suggestion only, I'd prune the start...

So restless
[am I]
without you
my soul
[may] become(s)

... in such manner the poem becomes very dynamic heading towards the black hole.

Reminds me of molecules denied gravity, Reg, as this is all that holds them together. Without gravity they'd be scattered through the universe. Such is how we feel when losing someone we love. The ground is liquid beneath our feet but our arms are there to reach out for stability and balance. Acceptance comes after the others stages of greif are felt and worked through-denial, pain, anger-finally reaching a point after greiving 'what was' to accepting 'what is'. But to skip any steps without completely feeling and working through them just sends you back to deal with them up the road. I may be off-base but this poem seems so intensely
personal. We are sucked into the vortex from the first line, swirling in the emotion. Powerful, dear heart...

Everywhere and nowhere without the anchor to the soul and the nucleus to our sense of being. You capture that distress so well, Regis. Head knowledge is confident that we need only ourselves... heart understanding is that our whole is made up of two perfectly fitting parts. I have been moved today by a quote by Kahlil Gibran on Peter's page: "If you love somebody, let them go, for if they return, they were always yours. And if they don't, they never were." This is gut-wrenching but perhaps so true. Of course, to be separated by death is another matter. In whichever case, the heart is flesh and malleable... there will be another "perfectly matching part" to a heart that is as tender and soft as yours, Regis. Bless you, thank you and be well, dear One. LOL Kate xx
