A brief summary of my trip to California and Oregon My wife and I and a couple of friends flew out of Huntington, West Virginia, on September 8, for Las Vegas. We picked up our rental car, checked in The Venetian and saw Cirque du Soliel at Bellagio. Wow! What a hotel (The Venetian), and what a show (Cirque du Soliel, also called "O"). The next day we took off on our 4,000-mile journey. We crossed Death Valley, visited Yosemite, Lake Tahoe, Crater Lake in Oregon, Mt. Hood (dined at Timberline Lodge), crossed the Columbia River into Washington, crossed back into Oregon at Portland to see my cousin (who cooked us a nice dinner of pork with rice and almond-crusted Marion blackberry cobbler), traveled down the coast of Oregon over into California, went through the Redwood Forest, back to Crater Lake (since it was fogged in the first time), went back to Redwood Forest and down the coast of California, inland to Napa Valley, San Francisco on Sunday, Kings Canyon and Sequoyia National Park, had a hot-dog lunch in a '50s restaurant called Peggy Sue's outside Fresno, back to Las Vegas, saw The Blue Man Group perform, spent the night at Excalibur, and flew back to West Virginia the next morning. What a two-week trip! I'm exhausted. Maybe something else to write about, though. Who knows. I already have a 1370-word starter. Anyone want to hear what I have so far? I would like to try it out on anyone who might be interested. Let me know.
