This past Saturday, April 29, I was a participant in the Ohio River Festival of Books, held in Huntington, West Virginia.  This is the second book festival I've attended, and I must say that I haven't had much luck at either one.  Regardless of the number of people who attend, the competition is too great.  There were more than thirty authors who set up to sign.  I signed with a group of authors at the Borders booth, and we did it in two-hour time slots.  The group I was with signed from 9-11 a.m.  Perhaps the time we signed had something to do with it.  I don't know. 

     Have any of the rest of you had this problem at book festivals?  Is there some way of drawing attention to yourself at a book festival other than dressing or acting like some kind of clown.  At this point, I don't know if I will ever participate in another festival of this type.  Fairs and arts and crafts festivals, yes.  Book festivals, I strongly doubt it.
