New book release – 2008 Anthology “Amante das Leituras”
Dear friends, fellow authors and readers,
I’m happy to announce the release, today, of the 2008 edition of the Poetic Anthology “Amante das Leituras”. Published by Edium Editores”, this compilation of works authored by members of the literary Yahoo Group “Amante das Leituras”, founded and coordinated by Ana Maria Costa, includes poetry, prose-poetry, and prose by:
Alexandra Oliveira, Ana Maria Costa, Carlos Alberto Roldán (Argentina), Carlos Luanda, Denilson Neves (Brazil), Geraldes de Carvalho, Jorge Vicente, José-Augusto de Carvalho, José Dias Egipto, José Gil, Manuel C. Amor, Maria João Oliveira, Maria Rita Romão, Mónica Correia, Paulo Themudo, Samuel Gomes, Túlio Henrique Pereira (Brazil) and Vera Carvalho.
The presentation event will take place this afternoon, in the town of S. Mamede de Infesta, near the city of Porto, and will include musical and dance performances by various artists, as well as the dramatization of many of the works featured in the Anthology, by a group of fabulous actors. A book-signing session will follow.
To this announcement, I would like to add, here, a very enthusiastic note of thanks and congratulations to Jorge Castelo Branco, the manager of “Edium Editores”, for his extraordinary work and audacity as a publisher. In spite of the current – and sad – reality of low book sales in general, and of poetry in particular, he has been indomitably supporting and promoting the works of a growing number of new – and some not so new, but relatively unknown – poets. And modest as the figures may be, especially if compared to those regarding sales of other genres, Jorge has not been discouraged by them; in fact, he has been gradually and successfully proving that its “niche” in the book market may be a small one, but, with lots of love and lots of dedication put into looking for its fans and guiding them to where they can find it, with good quality and at decent prices … poetry does sell!
