Today is our Camelot 1/31/2024 7:32:00 AM
Someone once said that what makes a memory is a "rich imagination and a poor memory!" We want to remember it the way we want to, to makes happy today... Memories, especially those that make us feel warm and fuzzy, are a wonderful way of making our life seem worthwhile, especially if these days are not as exciting as our memories dictate. And yet, we are this very moment, creating memories - good ones - if we choose to practice gratitude, if simply for the very act and blessing of a brain that still works and a heart that feels the good stuff: it's a matter of choice, after all!
As I enter my autumn years and have more time to look back at my life and indulge in wonderful memories (I don't dwell on the negatives ones, for sure - they were lessons), my heart warms up and I thank God for the luck and blessings to have experienced such joy. I can't help but smile and thank my Lucky Stars!
I was blessed with (people always said and still do) good looks and I have to admit that, especially in California, that opened up a world of opportunities for me - but my parents made sure I was centered and played that down. In my upbringing, values were paramount: God, family, country, education, a good heart... looks come and go (no kidding!)
Nevertheless, as I grew and became a young woman, educated and professional (PR/media) and later had my own T.V. cable show in Santa Monica, I experienced a myriad opportunities both professional and personal that afforded me much happiness - if coupled with a lot of hard work and dedication; never, but never, depending merely on my looks; that I promise and humbly, humbly attest to. It was a gift - and not of which I never abused. My folks made sure of that.
So, even though my summer of '75 was pure Camelot because I met my Prince and sailed the seas in his yacht to Catalina on weekends and flew on his private plane to ski on weekends, I still managed to say "No" to his proposal of marriage because I was not in love with him enough to spend a lifetime with him. I could not be bought.
