Dreaming of a "boring" life 10/4/2005 12:28:35 PM
There is nothing wrong with a boring life... When I achieved sobriety, my goal was to have a boring life. No running, no timelines, no chaos. But, my life has been anything but boring. It has been a hectic summer and I'm ready for the snow to fly and just relax for the winter. Betty and I just got back from "The University of Iowa Medical Center" where she had surgery on her elbow. Over a year ago, she was in a car accident and having her arm at all is a miracle in itself. They basically rebuilt everything on her left side, but after a year she was still in pain. Can you imagine a life with total physical pain for well over a year? So our doctor recommended a surgery which could be done at either the Mayo Clinic or the University. We chose the University because it was a bit closer - only a six hour drive. Surgery went well and we will find out in the next couple of months whether the pain is gone. Yeah, a boring life seems quite peaceful right now.
