It's over! 2/6/2005 12:08:05 PM
Made it. Another 2/5 has past. I have always hated and feared the month of February. I know its a short month, but for me, it is full of nothing but misery. 29 years ago, my Mom died. Frozen to the ground, past out drunk, behind a bar. Not a pretty end, to a lifetime of violence. Violence to herself and violence received from my dad. 11 years ago, a good friend of mine, died down the street from me and my ex-wife. A father figure to us, always friendly, always ready to just sit back and shoot the breeze. 5 years ago, Andrea Scherling died. PLEASE, find my poem "An Angel Named Andrea," its worth it. Through all this misery, I know there is a Higher Power watching over me. I know He (or She) continues to bless me and move me in the right direction. Two days after Andrea's death, my wife, Betty, "died" in recovery following a surgery. It was a very short death, but I witnessed it all. I wrote a little bit about it in my short story "The Day We Became One." Its hard to "touch" all those feelings that happened in that 72 hour period, except to say it was very spiritual. Then yesterday, a very short little article appeared in our local newspaper "Dave Harm's 'War Zone' is being published." Everytime I've had an article appear in the papers I knew about it. This one, was a total surprize. A nice surprize! One that kind of gave me the message, "Don't dwell in the past." I tried not to, but its hard. And for now, I won't have to deal with it again for another 364 days.
